Hello everyone! As promised, for this blog, I will be talking about some major sources of pollution in my neighborhood. I'm not very familiar with where I live, Garfield Ridge. I moved there 3 years ago but never really explored the neighborhood. I knew the airport was a major source of pollution. Yet, I didn’t think about the effects it would have on my community. I had noticed when I was younger the smell of exhaust while driving on the highway. I never took it into consideration. Here are some photos I took around my neighborhood to learn more about my surroundings with you. An Active Voice for Little Village

Hello, everyone! I'm going to be talking about air pollution in Little Village, a community on Chicago’s West Side. When doing research on environmental justice and neighborhoods that struggle a lot with this problem, Little Village came into mind. I've researched and read about some of the issues going on around the neighborhood and one of them is air pollution. According to an article in the Chicago Tribune , Little Village struggles a lot with polluted air.

Clean Future: Boosting Planet Health

Hello, My name is Xilonen Penzado, but I also go by Xilo (pronounced Sheelow), for short! I go to Richard T. Crane High School, which has an internship program, Urban Alliance, and they connected me with an incredible internship with One Earth Film Festival. It's been three weeks, and the crew keeps me so busy with reviewing films and many other projects, including this blog, which is perfect for me. I love to write and journal. It frees my mind and lets me get my thoughts out in a way where I feel at peace. I find it relaxing just letting my thoughts flow and my voice on paper.
