From My Point of View

Where I live, I always see trucks parked in this parking lot and some driving out of it. I wanted to see how many trucks I would see when walking through my neighborhood, and in about 20 mins I've counted about 30+!

Hello everyone! As promised, for this blog, I will be talking about some major sources of pollution in my neighborhood. I'm not very familiar with where I live, Garfield Ridge. I moved there 3 years ago but never really explored the neighborhood.  I knew the airport was a major source of pollution. Yet, I didn’t think about the effects it would have on my community. I had noticed when I was younger the smell of exhaust while driving on the highway. I never took it into consideration. Here are some photos I took around my neighborhood to learn more about my surroundings with you. You can also see this story on the One Earth Film Fest Instagram page – my Intern Takeover is in the highlights under Takeovers.

I know this probably was sad to learn about–the pollution and how the earth is affected by all of this– but I won’t leave you feeling depressed. I discovered this quote from David Attenborough, "It's surely our responsibility to do everything within our power to create a planet that provides a home not just for us, but for all life on Earth." It really stood out to me. It really is our responsibility to provide for all life on Earth, to take care of the things around us, whether it’s watering our plants or picking up trash. Our actions matter, and when we use our power to make a change and put in effort we can help our community be more clean. For my next blog, I’ll be writing about Earth Day and our Earth Week Mini Film Fest coming up in April.
